How Does It Work?

Shockwave therapy delivers high-frequency sound waves to the affected area, penetrating deep into the tissue. This process creates heat, which in turn draws circulation to the area, triggering a localized inflammatory response. The increased blood flow brings in essential healing properties, accelerating tissue regeneration and reducing pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Patient Experience Like?

While shockwave therapy may not be the most comfortable treatment, it is a short and tolerable procedure. We always prioritize our clients’ pain tolerance and adjust the intensity accordingly. Clients often describe the sensation as similar to an elastic band snapping on their chest. As long as the discomfort remains within a tolerable range (around a 7 on a pain scale of 1 to 10), the treatment can proceed.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients will require three to six sessions to see significant results. The treatment is usually combined with massage therapy, with each appointment lasting approximately half an hour. When performed within a massage therapy treatment, shockwave therapy is typically covered by extended health benefits. However, if done independently, coverage may vary.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t receive this modality?

This treatment is not recommended for those with diabetes or pacemakers. Additionally, it should not be performed over the heart or chest area, as no significant benefits have been observed in these regions.
